Eric was born on the North Shore of Chicago where he began formal piano lessons at age 6. Classically trained from an early age, he developed as a musician playing in numerous bands and as a solo musician while he attended New Trier High School. He mastered the technique necessary to play many of the great classical pieces of our time such as Rachmaninoff Prelude in G minor, Lizst Un Sospiro, and Beethoven Piano Sonata No. 14. While music was his passion, practicality won out. He attended the University of Illinois Chicago where he graduated and began a career in finance. He spent years working in hedge funds and asset management companies in Chicago, while continuing to study with numerous teachers in the city. However, Eric could not deny what was obvious to everyone else. He left the finance industry and began playing and teaching full time.
Eric has studied with David Bloom who founded The Bloom School, the oldest Jazz school in Chicago and Alan Swain who started the Jazz Program at DePaul. These teachers were hugely influential on Eric's development and let him reach his true potential as a pianist. He currently plays regularly in the Chicago area and teaches throughout all the suburbs of the North Shore. Contact him today to set up your in home private lessons!
